Emergency Teaser Out: Kangana Ranaut Releases Riveting Promo, Unveiling the Release Date
Kangana Ranaut, known for her versatile roles, is set to portray the iconic Indian woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, in the upcoming film “Emergency.” The first look of the film was revealed at the beginning of the shoot. Now, on Saturday (June 24), the actress dropped a captivating teaser, along with the highly-anticipated release date of the movie.
Sharing the gripping promo, Kangana wrote, “A protector or a Dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared a war on its people. #Emergency releasing worldwide on 24th November.” The announcement video coincides with the 48th anniversary of the state of emergency declared by the Prime Minister across the country.
The film, which revolves around the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is set to hit theaters on November 24, 2023. Directing the film and starring in it, Kangana expressed her thoughts, stating, “Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know. It is a crucial story, and I want to thank my super-talented actors like the late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for embarking on this creative journey together. I am excited to bring this extraordinary episode from India’s history to the big screen. Jaihind!”
Alongside Kangana, the film features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, and Shreyas Talpade in prominent roles. Indira Gandhi, the subject of the film, served as the third Prime Minister of India and remains the only female to have held the position. She was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Recently, Kangana shared that Vijayendra Prasad, the acclaimed writer of “Baahubali,” became emotional after watching the edited version of “Emergency.” She posted on Instagram, “After the complete edit is done, the first person to watch Emergency. Not only did Vijendra sir wipe his eyes several times while watching the edit, but after watching it, he said, ‘I am so proud of you, my child’… well, my life is made.”
Prior to this project, Kangana portrayed former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the 2021 biopic “Thalaivii.” In addition to “Emergency,” the actress has the film “Tejas” in her pipeline.
