Srinagar Breaks Record with Hottest June Day in Five Years, Temperature Peaks at 35 Degrees Celsius

Srinagar recently experienced the highest temperature in the month of June after a gap of five years, with the mercury soaring to 35 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has announced that the scorching heat is expected to subside starting today, offering some respite to the residents.

A senior official from the Department revealed that the maximum temperature recorded on Friday matched the previous record of 35 degrees Celsius set on June 3, 2018. However, the all-time highest temperature for the month of June was recorded on June 29, 1978, at 37.8 degrees Celsius.

“We are optimistic that the high temperatures will ease starting today,” the official stated. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures in different locations on Saturday were as follows: Srinagar – 22.4 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam – 13.3 degrees Celsius, Gulmarg – 14.4 degrees Celsius, Kargil – 15.8 degrees Celsius, and Leh – 12 degrees Celsius.

In Jammu, the minimum temperatures stood at 28.5 degrees Celsius, Katra – 25.4 degrees Celsius, Batote – 22.9 degrees Celsius, Banihal – 21.3 degrees Celsius, and Bhaderwah – 21.8 degrees Celsius.
