BTS Makes History with New Song “Take Two” Topping Billboard Global Charts
BTS has once again shattered records on Billboard’s global charts with their latest release, “Take Two.”
Billboard officially confirmed that BTS’ digital single, “Take Two,” debuted at the number one spot on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts. These charts rank songs based on streaming and sales activity from over 200 territories worldwide. This remarkable achievement establishes BTS as the first artist in Global 200 history to have a new song reach number one every year since the chart’s launch in 2020. Furthermore, they are the only artist to have achieved this feat on the Global Excl. U.S. chart consistently every year.
The only other act with a number one hit on the Global 200 each year since its inception is Mariah Carey, known for her timeless holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
Moreover, BTS has extended their own record as the artist with the most number one songs on the Global 200. “Take Two” marks their seventh song to top the chart, joining the ranks of their previous hits: “Dynamite,” “Savage Love,” “Life Goes On,” “Butter,” “Permission To Dance,” and “My Universe.”
Between June 9 and June 15, “Take Two” garnered a staggering 60.2 million global streams and sold 64,000 copies. Outside of the United States, it was streamed 54.3 million times during the same period, with 48,000 digital copies sold.
It’s important to note that the ranked charts—Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global—do not include traditional broadcast scores but focus primarily on streaming and sales data. This makes them particularly popular among young listeners who primarily consume music through official sources.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that BTS accomplished it while on hiatus and with their full group performances on hold until 2025. Nonetheless, the celebrations in Seoul and around the world, coupled with their recent Billboard success, demonstrate that BTS continues to hold an unparalleled fan following built over the years through their groundbreaking music.
